it’s horses, they have 4, 3, 2 and 1 beat steps, its all about the speed. Google horse steps. so Amish and mennonite have both. Though i would be concerned if someone tried to canter with a wagon, it’s like a truck with the back doors open, what happens when it goes really fast?

The horse is generally in two time, because the feet are moving together. Although these are old-order Mennonite horses, not specifically Amish ones.

Actually, you don’t hear the wagon wheels so much as the horse, usually in a steady 4-time. *clop* *clop* *clop* *clop*
