    Yay you are back! couldn’t get your site to load all week, i was worried i wouldn’t get my weekly Snark for the week! :)

    This “scandal” makes no sense to me. According to the press reports, the rules are set up so that you can gain an advantage by selectively losing certain games. That is, if you choose to lose just the right game, you can have a better chance at a gold medal at the end.

    The players are being punished for thinking strategically about the entire course of the competition, rather than tactically about only the single game they are currently involved in. Oddly enough, many of the worlds problems come from people only thinking about the short term considerations. When these athletes think ahead, we punish them.

    Very odd indeed…
