		<description>So these racists were fine with the couple as members of the congregation, but not with them being married in the church? (Perhaps they thought they were someone&#039;s servants?)

Of course the real kicker to me here is everyone acting shocked over a Baptist church displaying bigotry. I&#039;ll admit it&#039;s different to see them being bigoted towards someone other LGBTQ people, but it&#039;s really just a return to their foundation.

(Please note that I grew up in a Baptist church until I escaped at the age of 18. Needless to say, the teaching didn&#039;t take! I can recall numerous examples of racism on the part of the congregation. While this is, of course, from an individual church, I suspect it was the usual situation for most of the other Baptist churches in the south at the time.)</description>
